Healthyish privacy policy
Last updated: 29 August 2026
The short version
Healthyish has no accounts. We do not know who you are, we do not ask for your email address, and we do not sell anything about you to anyone. Your scan history stays on your phone. Photos you scan are sent to be analysed and are not kept.
What is stored on your phone
- Your scan history, including the name and score of each item
- Your streak
- A random identifier generated when you install the app
Deleting the app removes all of it. You can also clear your history at any time from the You screen.
What is sent off your phone
When you scan a photo: the photo is sent to our server, which passes it to Google's Gemini API to work out what the food is. The photo is not stored by us — once the analysis comes back, the image is gone from our systems. Google processes the photo under its own API terms, which may include using submitted content to improve its services.
When you scan a barcode: the barcode number is sent to Open Food Facts, a non-profit open food database, to look the product up. Nothing else is sent.
With every scan: a random identifier created when you installed the app. It is not linked to your name, email, phone number, device advertising id, or anything else about you. Its only purpose is counting free scans and knowing when your free week started, so that the allowance cannot simply be reset by reinstalling.
Payments
Subscriptions are handled by Google Play or the App Store, and by RevenueCat, which tells us only whether a subscription is currently active. We never see your card details, your billing address, or your name. Cancel any time in your store account.
What we do not do
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers
- No analytics that follow you between apps
- No selling or sharing of data with third parties for their own purposes
- No location, contacts, microphone, or photo library access unless you pick a photo yourself
Children
Healthyish is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect anything from them. Since it collects no personal data from anyone, there is nothing held about a child either.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing to export or erase on our side. Your data lives on your phone and is under your control. If you want the random identifier associated with your install forgotten, delete the app or write to us and we will remove it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and material changes will be announced in the app.
